MLK Interfaith Service
We are looking forward to joining together to commemorate the life and prophetic legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, January 14 at 3:00pm.Join faith and elected leaders from around the DMV region in our sanctuary, as together we join our communities in prayer and recommit ourselves to living into Dr. King's vision of the Beloved Community, an interconnected, interdependent "world house in which we have to live together black and white, Easterner and Westerner, Gentile and Jew, Catholic and Protestant, Muslim and Hindu - a family unduly separated in ideas, culture and interest, who, because we can never again live apart, must learn somehow to live with each other in peace."
Dr. King's words are especially salient in today’s interconnected world. Yet we so often see 'us vs. them' thinking. It is easy to lose sight that everyone has inherent worth and dignity, rooted in our common humanity, and deserves peace which Dr. King called “the presence of justice” and not just “the absence of tension.”
