Sermon: We Are The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For
November 19, 2023
Rev. Ali K.C. Bell

We Are The Ones We've Been Waiting For- Poet and Activist, June Jordan aptly wrote these words in a poem that she presented to the United Nations in 1978 to commemorate the 40,000 women and children who bodily stood against the regime of apartheid. May oppressed groups since this time have taken up the last sentence of the poem as their acknowledgement of their determination to move toward their own freedom. This service will ask the question of our congregation, if we too are the ones we've been waiting for as we honor Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resilience.
