On UN Sunday, we welcome Rev. Mary Katherine Morn, President of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, to Cedar Lane! In the face of challenges and forces that undermine justice and equity, UUSC has been resisting cynicism and refusing complacency for more than eight decades. UUSC advances human rights in partnership with communities impacted by oppression through a model that embraces radical trust.
Join us for this special worship service. Together we will pray for peace and explore the nuance and complexity of the conflict in Israel and Palestine.
Indigenous People's Day “reimagines Columbus Day and changes a celebration of colonialism into an opportunity to reveal historical truths about the genocide and oppression of indigenous peoples in the Americas, to organize against current injustices, and to celebrate indigenous resistance.” (from UUA – Indigenous People's Day)
Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read and spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Unitarian Universalism affirms and promotes freedom of speech, thought, and expression. We believe in spiritual and intellectual freedom. Let freedom read! We welcome Cedar Lane member Phyllis Naylor, an acclaimed author of many books including the 1992 Newbery medal winner Shiloh and the Alice book series, one of the most challenged and banned books in the last decade, into our pulpit.
