While imprisoned for leading a demonstration in Birmingham, Alabama, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, jr. writes a letter to the moderates and liberals who are trying to block the progress of the Civil Rights Movement. This sermon is a response to that letter.
Is the purpose of "centering down" to escape from the world or to prepare ourselves for whatever it is that we are called to be and do in the world? Is it to escape from our lives or to discover how we might live them? Is it to take refuge in inaction or to find the strength and courage to take the actions which are revealed to us? The service will investigate.
